What services do you offer?

Do you offer virtual estimates

No, we do not offer virtual estimates. There are many considerations that are factored into the pricing of your project estimate. All estimates are required to be in person, even for the smallest of project inquiries.

Which areas do you service?

We service Long Island, NY. Both Suffolk & Nassau County.

What types of paint do you use?

We prefer to work with Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore Paints, as their qualities are comparable and both brands deliver exceptional finishes.

How long does it take to paint the whole interior of a house?

Many factors play a part in this frequently asked question, such as the square footage of the home and the amount of furniture in the home at the time of the project. Having ample amounts of furniture in a home requires significant preparation to protect all pieces. With the amount of preparation considered, painting the entire interior of a home can range roughly between 1 and 5 weeks.

Do I need to move furniture before the painters arrive?

Yes. At A & J’s Applications, we require all furniture to be moved into the center of the room, pictures and valuables removed from all walls, and electronics disconnected prior to project start, as we do not take responsibility for any personal belongings.

What finishes do you recommend for different rooms?

In common areas & bedrooms we find it most flattering to apply flat finish to the ceilings, matte finish to the walls, and satin finish on all trim and doors. In kitchens and bathrooms, we recommend eggshell for all walls, eggshell for bathroom ceilings and flat for kitchen ceilings. Standard satin finish on all doors and trim is recommended in these areas as well.

Do you offer cabinet painting or refinishing?

Yes, we offer cabinet painting and staining. Cabinet painting can be achieved using the brush-and-roll method or the spraying method. Both methods require different techniques and are offered at different prices. It is important to note that we only perform cabinet painting/refinishing on cabinets that are entirely solid wood. We have found that many cabinet manufactures choose laminate-surfaced particle board for the sides and bases of their cabinetry. When this is discovered, we do not quote for the project because laminate does not perform well when subjected to paint or stain, leaving the risk of client dissatisfaction to be too great.

What is your preparation process before painting?

Our preparation process includes protecting all flooring with the use of builder’s paper and/or drop cloths. Then, we protect your furniture with the use of plastic sheets. We complete our preparations by spackling, wood-filling, sanding, caulking, and cleaning all surfaces in effort for a flawless paint/primer application.

Do you offer warranties or guarantees on your work?

Yes. We offer a one-year warranty for touch-ups on interior projects. This does not include new sheetrock damage incurred after project completion. This includes any areas that you believe we have missed or areas that have not been completed to professional standards. We offer a 6-month warranty on all exterior projects, as exterior projects are exposed to various conditions outside of our control. Your satisfaction is a priority to us. Let us know so we can make it right!

What happens if the weather delays an exteriorpainting project?

Rest assured that your project is a priority to us. If weather delays an exterior project, we will do our best to provide immediate notice of the project delay and reschedule the project when appropriate to do so. Exterior projects heavily rely on weather cooperation which can be particularly tricky on Long Island, NY. Exterior paint should only be applied between the external temperatures of 50- and 85-degrees Fahrenheit.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. We require a cash deposit covering the estimated cost of products and materials as well as 10% of the cost of labor up-front. We issue a paper receipt for your cash deposit and your deposit is then deducted from your final balance. Larger projects are subjected to partial payments as work persists. Once a contract is agreed upon, your initial deposit used towards materials and partial labor is deemed non-refundable.

What are your accepted methods of payment?

We prefer cash payment and we offer a 3% discount to all clients willing to pay with cash. Other methods of payment accepted include credit, debit, or a certified check or money order made payable to A & J’s Applications, LLC.

Do you offer financing or payment plans?

No. At this time, we do not offer financing or payment plans, but we hope to offer this service to our clients in the future!

Are there any hidden costs that I should be aware of?

There are absolutely no hidden costs when working with us, but there ARE hidden savings! We pride ourselves on providing transparent and itemized quotes so that you can identify exactly what you’re being charged for. Some hidden savings we offer our clients are savings on the cost of paint and cash payments! As professional contractors, we receive a contractor’s discount on all paint that we purchase. We always pass these savings to our clients. Also, when you pay with cash you will save 3% of the cost of your entire project!

Do you clean up after the project is complete?

Yes. We have a thorough post-project cleanup process inclusive of vacuuming all project debris along with inspecting for and removing any unwanted paint splatter.

How often should I repaint my home or office?

Generally, you should paint your home or office every 5-7 years. However, high-traffic spaces in the home and office tend to need a repaint every 2-3 years.

Can you help with color selection?

Yes. We assist with color suggestions by providing our professional opinions, helpful guidelines, trending colors, and advocating for color sampling throughout.
